The Oak Creek Farmers Market celebrates its 5th anniversary on Saturday

OAK CREEK, WI — The Oak Creek Farmers’ Market will celebrate its fifth anniversary on Saturday with special events, giveaways, cakes and more, according to a city news release.
The market, which the city touts as the fastest growing in Milwaukee County, will feature its gathering of vendors, farmers and makers on Saturday, with a few special events beyond that. The market takes place in Drexel Town Square, downtown Oak Creek, in an area developed specifically for the Farmers Market.
Saturday’s anniversary celebration will include rock painting and the first 150 customers will receive a reusable market bag from Ignite Medical Resort. Visitors will also have the chance to win a basket of products from all vendors, the city said. The cake will be distributed at 11 a.m.
“Five years ago this Saturday we opened for the first time, and we’ve been growing ever since,” market manager Dawn Carrillo said in the press release.
The market regularly features live music, children’s programs, a nearby wading pool, bathrooms, a nearby nature reserve and more, Carillo said.
“We have the most unique market ever, located in our downtown park; it’s great for kids and dogs,” Carillo said.
Markets are held in Drexel Town Square every Saturday through October from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can expect farm-fresh foods, produce, eggs, meat, honey, and flowers, as well as seasonal items like strawberries, corn, apples, and more.
The market is located west of Howell Avenue and south of Drexel Avenue. The land was formerly the site of Delco Electronics.
