all flights canceled from October 15

Bad news for travelers who want to go on vacation outside the summer period or enjoy a weekend away. The airline Alitalia, which is experiencing significant financial difficulties, will be replaced by ITA from October 15, 2021.

Recovery will result in the cancellation of all bookings made after October 14th. It is also no longer possible to purchase tickets through the company since August 25, 2021.

Full refund provided by the company

For passengers with an Alitalia ticket whose number begins with 055 and whose flight is now canceled, two solutions are offered by Airline:

Change of reservation before October 14th free of charge;
complete refund.

According to the Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, around 250,000 passengers are affected.

Alitalia has become a financial hub

For Alitalia, it is the end of 75 years of existence. Founded in 1946, the airline has become a financial sinkhole, forcing the Italian government to spend € 11 billion since 2000 in an attempt to save it.

Initially, ITA will have 52 aircraft, including 7 intended for long-haul flights. The company will acquire the majority of the network supplied by Alitalia.
